“If a recording of two improvising horns in fug-mind gut interplay is not jazz then the form is dead. We say it is more alive than anyone in moldy fig land will ever know at this point. Slither is excellent reed street waste. Today’s jazz for today’s playboys.”
— Thurston Moore & Byron Coley, Bull Tongue

”Primitive, droning reed work with delayed trash percussion, deep fog horn soundings and an Industrial-Folkways feel that comes across like a more hyper-active Sean Meehan/Tamio Shiraishi brain bender.”
— David Keenan, Volcanic Tongue

Slither is the Michigan duo of Heath Moerland and Chris Pottinger. Heath is perhaps best known for running the weird lo-fi noise label Fag Tapes and performing solo under the Sick Llama moniker. It has been said: “Sick Llama holds the rotten essence of Midwest Basement Mystery Mind Sound inside the marrow of his weird skull” (John Olson, Wolf Eyes). Chris has performed solo for many years as Cotton Museum, combining theremin and loops to create creatures beyond belief... He is also an amazing graphic illustrator as any of the astounding releases on his Tasty Soil label will demonstrate. Together, as Slither, they improvise a noise that is somewhere between free jazz and nirvana. With Heath on clarinet and Chris on sax, both parties with a arsenal of electronics and who knows what —- last time Slither jammed the Casbah Lounge in Hamilton Heath was playing an amplified dish rack.... anything is possible.
— David Payne, Fossils

More illshapen and deranged brain snuff from Michigans Brothers Grime. You need that black fissure in the back off your head mended, right? Then start plastering. “SLITHER slathers strictly slack layers of hiss and too-trill reeds in single-take lakeside station session. Sick Heath and Cotton Chris trade echoed coin-flips along a horizon whose dark moon refuses to set, in a shitbrick piss-black back alleyway leading everywhere. Morepott loping loops elope with lingering lizard lines — behold, the bundle of baby beats buried beneath BOSS-basted and beaten BASF blur! “An edgy blend of heart-stopping terror, wry humor and surprising humanity” — thar thou thready thor thissssssss ??”
